AurélieHi guys, so I got the most awesome present for my birthday a few months ago … the boyfriend surprised me with a voucher for a weekend getaway to The Biesbosch in an old and super cute VW hippie van!(His name was Devon.) Seeing how a VW road trip has been on my bucket list for quite a while, you can imagine how excited I was.

A few weeks ago our trip became reality.We decided to go into the wild and return to the basics.To put things in motion, we drove up to the Biesbosch in the Netherlands at 80 km/h (talk about a need for speed), to go camping together with some friends.You know you’re going slowly when even the truck drivers look at you all annoyed when they overtook us time and time again.(Sorry guys, we really tried to go faster.)Even though it was only a weekend, being away from all that city noise, deadlines, WiFi, etc.really helped to disconnect.It felt like we were gone a week.We enjoyed a cheese platter, with all bells and whistles.I’m talking honey, grapes, dates, wine, you name it.On top of that — and something you just neet to do when being here — we also went kayaking down the Biesbosch.Talking about a whole lot of awesome.The first few hours we encountered nothing but nature, the sound of our paddles and our own (sometimes lame) jokes.There was not a single soul out there, except for us.Obviously, you haven’t really camped when you haven’t BBQ’d.So that’s exactly what we did.We pretty much spent the rest of the day & evening eating, drinking and laughing.And spotting falling stars.
And getting bit by mosquitos, as the Biesbosch is surrounded by water.Part of the experience I’m afraid… ^^

Oh, by the way, somewhere in between some cheese and bread, my boyfriend popped out a ring.#sothathappened Even though it was hard to actually pronounce “yes”, with all the cheese going on in my mouth.He understood my nodding all to well.Which made an already unforgettable trip even more amazing.
