Who’s in need of some quality me-time? If you’re holding your hand up like that time in kindergarten and repetitively are yelling “me-me-me!”, then you might wanna check out LUX. Okay, scratch that. If you’re doing both things, you just need to check it out.
Go baby, go baby gooo — go and have some spoiling time.
This brand new — small but super cozy — beauty and wellness place, only opened up its doors a few weeks ago in pretty Ghent. And this lucky bum got the honor to go check it out and try something from the menu. And let’s face it, an aromatherapy body massage does sound perfect to break free from those months of apartment planning, work stress, and overal crazy-ass filled days. No?
Aromatherapy massage, the options
Before the relaxing could start, Lynn (the lady behind LUX) wanted to make sure this experience was fitted as well as possible to my current mood and needs. Therefor, I got some options of scent to choose from:
Option 1: Cinnamon: Cinnamon oil is a powerful help for the immune system due to its antiviral and antibacterial qualities. For the skin, cinnamon oil works heating and by that it stimulates the blood circulation. It made me think of Christmas in a heartbeat. And kinda hungry. ^^
Option 2: Ccardamom: Because of the mucolytic, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, the oil has a supportive effect in treating colds, respiratory infections and coughing. If I would’ve known I would get a cold the day after, I might’ve gone for this one.
Option 3: Saffron: Saffron acts on our sense of well-being, fun and relaxation. Its calming effect is better than that of lavender! Fitted perfectly to what I wanted on that exact moment: feeling zen. Oh, and the scent was divine. We have a winner!
After picking my favorite sent it was time for 60 minutes of pure relaxation. My feet, legs, upper legs, hands, arms neck and back — they all got taken care off and before I knew, all my thoughts and worries made place for emptiness.
Okay no, the first 5 minutes I was thinking ‘Oh no, I forget to paint my toenails!’. But after those first 5 minutes, it was bye-bye worries.
What makes this place different is that the lady behind it constantly keeps her eyes open for new and innovating treatments. She masters them and integrates them in the options LUX has to offer. A nice way to differentiate her business from the many other beauty and wellness places out there.
So, all that’s left to do is for you to book something and for me to say: Thank you, Lynn, for my 60 minutes of heaven on earth. It was the perfect way to end my busy week and to start my even busier weekend. ^^
