It’s clear that I’m a big Jane fan. I realize I keep shoving their products in your face but can you blame me?! It’s the first make-up product in like forever that is (and I quote) gentle to my skin, which usually has more mood swings than a toddler birthday party on steroids. I’ve had such a struggle with make-up as long as I can remember and I just wanna spare you from this awful faith by convincing you to just give them I try. Seriously, just ask a few samples if the money stops you. You can still decide afterwards if you think it’s worth it or not.

Now, I might be a fan — but that doesn’t mean I like each and every one of their products.

The Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening mascara was one of the few Jane products that didn’t convince me (read more about the why here). It just didn’t do it for me as I prefer a little more ‘drama’ for my lashes. When they brought the Purelash Lengthening Mascara onto the market and I saw the somewhat special type of brush, I got curious. Really curious.

The tube in which the Purelash Lengthening Mascara comes in, can be described in one word: elegant. I always have the feeling that a brand is really confident about their products if they don’t overdo the packaging. Because let’s face it (no pun intended), packaging is only there to draw your attention between the thousands of other similar-looking products. Keeping it low-key is something not every brand would even dare to do. Especially if they know their product isn’t all that.

The brush itself is a little special. It kinda looks like the typical silicone brushes you often see, only it’s not completely the same. It has a dual-edged brush with shorter and longer uuhm, hairs. Which made me curious to see what kind of effect I could create with it.

So far so good. I’ve been using this new mascara for over a month now and I always apply it on top of my Purelash lash extender & conditioner. The way I use it (it took me a few days to figure out what works best for me) is that I start with the short side of the brush to apply a base. Afterwards, I flip it over and use the longer side to obtain extra length. With my previous Jane mascara I always added an extra layer on top of the Jane mascara with my Mac one for some extra pow. I noticed that I didn’t feel the need anymore to do so with this one. And that’s basically what I missed from my previous Jane mascara, the Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara.

Comparing to the Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara, this Purelash Lengthening Mascara is a big jump forward. This variant does the thing I personally want from a mascara. Longer, fuller looking lashes that are and look healthy. Also good to know is that it’s free of lacquers, shellac, and petroleum-based ingredients. Win win and one very happy me!
