If you haven’t spotted some jane iredale products on my social media channels yet, or missed my post about jane iredale beauty heaven, you’ve clearly been living under a rock. Apologies for all the spamming, I can go a little crazy when I’m really enthusiastic about something. ;-)
Anyway, I mentioned before that I had lost hope in finding beauty products that are both decent and sweet to my skin, ages ago. So yes, I’ll admit. Perhaps I went a little overboard when I came across this brand and decided to give it a shot. In my defense, I did tons of online research, tried it out a couple of times in beauty stores to see how my skin was gonna react to it, and wait for it: I’m actually using these products on a (almost) daily basis! Even better: I haven’t gotten any breakouts (yay!) and I really enjoy using these beauty makers. Okay, except for one. Curious?
SMOOTH AFFAIR FACIAL PRIMER & BRIGHTENER | GLOW TIME FULL COVERAGE MINERAL BB CREAM
SMOOTH AFFAIR FACIAL PRIMER & BRIGHTENER
With grapefruit, apple, green and white tea leaf extracts, (off to a good start!) the smooth affair facial primer and brightner has anti-aging properties that evens out and nourishes the skin tone, minimize the appearance of pores and increase luminosity. This primer calms and preps my (otherwise so moody) skin for makeup to come, and makes sure everything stays in place the entire day. All that by using only a drop the size of a wrinkled raison. And the scent, my god sometimes I really wanna lick it. It. smells. that. good. Fruity and summery. It’s not only my skin that wakes up when I open up this bottle, my happy mood as well. #winwin
GLOW TIME FULL COVERAGE MINERAL BB CREAM
A BB cream that actually gives that perfect amount of coverage without it looking like you stumbled into a pool of mud. On top of grapefruit and apple extract, it also has bitter orange extract and sunscreen (SPF 25). Plus it’s water resistant up to 40 minutes! That’s up to 40 minutes you can sweat without your make-up looking all cakey, ladies. And who do we kid, we all say we don’t sweat — “we sparkle!” — but damn, don’t we secretly know better. So definitely a big bonus.
ACTIVE LIGHT UNDER-EYE CONCEALER
An under-eye concealer and facial highlighter in one? Yes please! With its super user friendly brush you can easily reach into the recess between the nose and the inner corner of the eye. It gives a soft-focus finish and provides a great coverage. That’s to say, for me at least. If you really have dark circles (I more have blue-ish circles), I’m not sure if this one will rock your boat. I suggest you rather go for the Enlighten concealer in that case.
PUREPRESSED BASE MINERAL FOUNDATION | FAVORITE
This bad boy has become my best friend! A pressed mineral foundation (that’s right, it looks like a powder but it’s actually foundation) that feels as light as a feather when having it on. Perfect for people (like myself) who really don’t like the feeling of having make-up on.
(Getting. Clogged. Pores. H.E.L.P.) Not with this baby!
Also this Jane product comes with sun protection (SPF 20). But wait, it gets even better: this powder foundation provides bacterial protection and helps to calm inflammation! I can’t even describe how much I’m loving this little compact piece of heaven. It will impress you for sure. Ha, get it! ;) No seriously, you’ll surprise yourself by seeing what only the primer and the this one can do for you. And without developing any breakouts. #halleluja
CAMOUFLAGE BRUSH | BLENDING BRUSH | THE HANDI BRUSH
If I’m being honest, the only brushes I had laying in my make-up stash was one to apply eyeshadow, one to apply some blush and one for, uuh, I’m not sure exactly. Spending big bucks on the products above couldn’t be done without getting the appropriate tools to use them.
Because I (clearly) don’t have enough experience with other brushes to compare and to formulate a good opinion about these, let me just share some information I found about them on the website:
THE CAMOUFLAGE BRUSH
A small, flat, synthetic brush made with Taklon nylon to use with any cream-based products.
I got this one for my concealer. Even though the concealer has a great little brush of itself to apply the product, I’m a bit of a germ freak and there’s just no way to clean that thing properly. This one also allows me to really get close the my bottom eyelashes without worrying about possible eye infections. (As I tend to get those very easily).
THE BLENDING BRUSH
A dual-length brush made from goat hair and Taklon nylon. The unique combination of natural and man-made fibers makes it extremely versatile and ideal for use with both powder and cream based products. (Blending brush, meet glow time full coverage mineral bb cream.)
THE HANDI BRUSH
A flat-headed, long-bristled powder brush made of goat hair, the perfect tool for Jane pressed powders and which I’ve been using on a daily base for the last few weeks.
What I can say (to at least form some sort of conclusion about these brushes) is that I really like the shape and the fact that they are made out of eco-friendly materials. They really fit nicely into my hand and look pretty damn stylish too.
Okay, in the meanwhile, I added ‘Part I’ to the title of this post and removed some pictures to avoid this one getting too lengthy. I’ll share a little more about the rest of my Jane products in a second post. Including the one product that didn’t do it for me. So stay tuned!
In the meanwhile I would love to hear your experiences with this brand? Or in case it’s the first time you hear about it, seeing anything you might wanna try?
