Amsterdam, you’re truly an awesome inspirational source! The smell of marijuana, cheese, little bridges, trenches and the red light district are definitely the things you’ll notice the most when walking through the streets of Amsterdam. But Amsterdam is so much more than that. You have amazing shops, the coolest vintage stores, fashionable people everywhere and just an overall awesome vibe. Add it to your bucket list for sure if you like traveling.
The city is not that big, so two days is more than enough if you want to visit most of the nice places on tourist maps ànd do some shopping. And if I can give you some free advice, don’t think about every route to much. We just started walking and walked through streets we would never have seen if we would’ve followed our map. Sure you’ll get lost sometimes and walk around in circles, but these are the things that make life exciting. In a way, Amsterdam is like a toilet: Don’t always plan everything, be spontaneous and let go! (Apologies for the wrong, yet funny joke.)
Tip: if you love fashion (which you probably do), definitely check out Red Light Fashion. (And no, I’m not implying that you should all be staring at the girls behind the windows.) Since January 2008, different fashion designers have displayed their collections in this famous tourist district. The clothes are now shining right there where girls were sitting.
